Mr. Uhrin joined HMC in 2002.  He has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and serves as a Venture Partner for the venture capital team. Mr. Uhrin assists several companies through board visitation rights, such as Aldagen, IBI and Maxcyte.  He also serves as a board member or advisor to numerous regional life science focused organizations, including UVA’s Nursing Ventures Board, SEBIO, MAVA’s life science committee and UAB’s Concept Fund.  He also is active with the tech transfer efforts of numerous universities, including Florida, UAB, UNC, UVA, GA Tech and Duke.  Before joining HMC, he was employed by BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: BCRX), where he served as Vice President of Corporate Development. While there, he managed in- and out-licensing of products and technologies to execute research, discovery functions, and commercialization strategies; coordinated contractual arrangements with corporate partners, and developed and maintained relationships with the biotech industry and academic research institutions. He was also employed with Genentech, Inc. for twelve years as Director of Special Markets/Managed Care, where he directed a multi-state domestic and international region, focusing on managed care organizations, insurance companies, HMO’s, and Integrated Networks. Before joining Genentech, Mr. Uhrin spent ten years at Eli Lilly & Company. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently a registered pharmacist in the state of North Carolina.
